Great performance Sunday evening at Fairfield. Mr. Toadvine and Mr. Danielson were outstanding as was the HFSO.
Suggestions: HFSO needs to practice more on the “Star Spangled Banner”.
Would rather hear Mr. Danielson on the regular piano (much better sound) instead of the keyboard.
Thank you for the outstanding performance!

Thanks for the nice comments! Shawn and Kenneth are a pleasure with which to work! The Star Spangled Banner arrangement we used is not the standard one, and is full of fresh, 21st Century harmonies. We just thought it would be nice to give it a new spin.

I agree with you on the piano. If we were going to be inside, it would have been a Steinway. We just cannot take the chance that it might rain on a real piano, and the heat and humidity would have prevented an acoustic piano from remaning in tune.

Glad you enjoyed the show! Please, tell your friends!

Very much enjoyed the concert! Thanks to all.

Mr. Toadvine is best heard when he is holding the mike.

  4. Paul Stanbery says:

    Thanks. I will tell him!

  5. Thank you HFSO for entertaining us Sunday evening at the Sculpture Park. My 7 year old son and I had a very nice time. It was beautiful music, but I did miss being able to see the musicians. Maybe a canopy over the amphitheater would be a good idea! Thank you also to Shawn and Kenneth for their performances.

Thanks for the comment. If we go inside the Pavilion again, we will elevate the orchestra. We do have the risers to do it, but the decision came so late (because of rain), we had notime to transport them there. I agree with you on the sound. An orchestra never sounds as good as it can in the open air. Those walls REALLY helped us, and potentially kept us dry! Glad you enjoyed the show. We had a ball!

How does donating money to a foster home help out?

Thanks for the comment. The HFSO has a history of reaching out to other worthy causes. For example, we provide scholarships to deserving young musicians; we help raise money for the Open Door Pantry in Hamilton, which benefits the poorest of the poor; and these MRDD Art presentations help the mentally challenged in our city. So, while it does not benefit us directly, this kind of community involvement makes our hometown a better place for all. So, we feel it does help us, indirectly. “A rising tide lifts all boats…………….”.
