The Great Miami Youth Symphony is the official youth orchestra of the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra Association. We again welcome Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Homes as our 2012-2013 Season Sponsor!
Under the direction of Maestro Paul John Stanbery, the orchestra enjoys state-wide recognition. Students come from all over the tri-state area, and especially Butler County. Rehearsals are held weekly at Wilson Middle School on Eaton Road in Hamilton (Next to Ft. Hamilton Hospital).

The all-high school aged orchestra numbers some 85 players, and performs three to four public concerts yearly. All members are required to pass a yearly audition and all are members of their music programs at school. The HFSO sponsors and maintains four outstanding opportunities for young musicians.
The Jack and Audrey Confer Music Scholarship Fund yearly presents ten awards of $100 each , offering young players the opportunity to study privately with a qualified teacher.
Special attention is paid to financial need and dedication to study.
Students in grades seven through eleven and residents of Butler County are eligible.
Deadline for application is typically during the Winter.

The HFSO Guild Voice Award
A monitary award of $1,000 (First Place) and $500 (Second Place) to an area High School Senior (graduating within current year), who is planning a career in voice/opera studies. Eligible students must be residents of Butler County, Ohio; or must reside in a county that borders Butler County, Ohio. Applications must be postmarked by June 1, 2013. Audition date is June 20, beginning at 3pm .

The Edward Kezur Awards ($2400)
Are presented to two outstanding members of the Great Miami Youth Symphony. These $1200 awards are to be spent only on the further advanced musical growth.
Before his untimely death, Dr. Kezur expressed the desire that symphonic music have a future in our community through these awards.
Only members of the Great Miami Youth Symphony are eligible. The audition/interview is held yearly in April.

The David & Marge Belew Young Artist Solo Competition for Orchestral Instrumentalists
In addition to an award of $1000, the young artist will be given the opportunity to perform as a featured soloist with the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra during the 2013-2014 season. The selection chosen must have an orchestral accompaniment available. The award given will be at the discretion of the judges and must be used to further the young person’s musical development. Applications must be postmarked by May 26, 2013. Auditions take place on Saturday; June 8, 2013 beginning at 10:00. Please call 513-895-5151 to secure your time slot.
